No Time To Die (2021) Technically immaculate, strong visuals and glossy design accentuate suitably outsized action set pieces and self-aware wit, even as taciturn Daniel Craig's Bond suffers overly detailed and long-winded plot. Spirited Ana De Armas cameo, unexpectedly emotional Léa Seydoux resolution.

Un beau soleil intérieur (Let The Sun Shine In) (2017) Emotional fragility, creative strength and physical longing provide rich textures for Juliette Binoche's wounded artist navigating minefield of relationships. Obliquely constructed drama of intellect, spiced with comic observation and unresolved detachment.

Emily (2022) Expressive design uses expansive landscapes and confined interiors to create heady atmosphere in which Emma Mackey's Emily Bronte burns through tragic love and is inspired to create feverish novel. Caustic approach sometimes awkward fit with melodrama. Spirited Abel Korzeniowski score.

El secreto de sus ojos (The Secret In Their Eyes) (2009) Finely judged blend of the personal and political, Argentine history in 70s and 90s reflected through unsolved murder case and unresolved relationship between court investigators Ricardo Darin and Soledad Villamil. Polished technique, raw emotions.

The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part One (2014) Solid production and performances maintain interest in meandering narrative that treads water rather than provides dynamic character and political development. Jennifer Lawrence's angry, manipulated rebel icon and finely tuned James Newton Howard score soar.

The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part Two (2015) Fittingly dark, bruised survivors embark on final mission to seek revenge on sadistically controlling Donald Sutherland even as power-hungry Julianne Moore hovers. Savage action heightens bleak intensity and Jennifer Lawrence's final act, even if coda feels forced.

Secondhand Lions (1992) Appealingly sentimental and lightly dramatic as errant Kyra Sedgwick leaves insecure Haley Joel Osment with eccentric uncles Michael Caine and Robert Duvall for the summer. Warm family and coming-of-age humor, flavored by colorful tall tales, succumbs to awkward ending.
