#Salaidda (#alive) (2020) After insular Yoo Ah-in wakes to face a zombie apocalypse, he struggles with isolation until contact is made with gutsy Park Shin-hye in opposite apartment block. Humane leads, unnerving atmosphere and witty survival action provide reflection on modern society and satisfying, inclusive resolution.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) Told with youthful zip to match high school protagonists, Andrew Garfield's angsty, nerdish superhero captures exhilaration and loss, while playful, contrary Emma Stone makes fine scientific and romantic foil. Colorful imagery and sense of humor aided by James Horner's intelligent score.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) When story adheres to relationship between Andrew Garfield's conflicted superhero and Emma Stone's burgeoning scientist, balance of humor and action remains winning. Yet surfeit of villains and past secrets muddies involvement, despite visual sheen and final tragedy.

Mon Crime (The Crime Is Mine) (2023) Advised by novice lawyer and equally broke Rebecca Marder, hopeful actress Nadia Tereszkiewicz pursues fame in 1930s Paris by admitting to self-defence murder. Amid sumptuous sets, light themes of emancipation and prejudice play out with bubbling comedy, and a formidable Isabelle Huppert.

Out Of Africa (1985) Leisurely pace wallows in expansive African visuals and glories in John Barry's sweeping, lyrical score, while epic romance plays out between Meryl Streep's determined farm owner and Robert Redford's irresistible adventurer. Sprawling melodrama told with literate intelligence.

L'ours (The Bear) (1988) After a young bear in the wilds of 1880s British Columbia is abruptly orphaned, he relies on protection of wounded grizzly even as they are hunted by Tchéky Karyo. Told with vivid visuals, themes of family and environment open up amid expansive adventure, brutal and comedic, with sure sense of sentimentality.

Little Italy (2018) Returning to Toronto, budding chef Emma Roberts sparks romance with childhood friend Hayden Christensen even as they're caught between ongoing feud of respective parents' pizzerias. Marooned by lazy plotting, stiff characters and awkward staging, willing cast provides only moments of relief.

Girl Trouble (1942) Breezy comedy's wartime setting sees unruffled Joan Bennett lose British fortune and pretend to be maid when she rents out her New York apartment to South American playboy and rubber plantation rep Don Ameche. Physical and verbal confusions unfold with endearing, throwaway style.

For Heaven's Sake (1950) As an impatient young daughter waits to be born, scratchy angel Clifton Webb decides to intervene in actress Joan Bennett and producer Robert Cummings' strained married life and make sure they want to have the child. Intermittent comic situations wind through cloying whimsy.

Now You See Me (2013) Distracting visual style saps tension from scattershot plot and ego-driven characters rely on sheer personality of cast, as four magicians become international sensations for elaborate heists that expose corruption. Propulsive Bryan Tyler score provides cohesion before dumbfounding final twist.

Now You See Me 2 (2016) Enjoyably loose approach heightens humor, especially with Lizzy Caplan's throwaway energy, as infamous group of magicians need to prove innocence and reveal global surveillance plot. Macau and London locations provide colorful backdrop for constant twists; involving rather than gripping.
