The Other Zoey (2023) Smart, wary computer student Josephine Langford believes in compatibility rather than romance until mistaken identity throws her together with genial, school sports jock Drew Starkey. Spirited cast and cheerful style enliven entirely predictable and demure story.

My Cousin Rachel (1952) From opening landscape of Gothic foreboding, eerie melodrama weaves suitably atmospheric spell as emotional Richard Burton is entranced by mysterious Olivia de Havilland even if she might be a killer. Lush production and swirling Franz Waxman score tease dark mystery.

Die Hard (1988) Expertly controlled action thriller, a giddy mix of violent set pieces and sustained tension maintained with fluid visuals and tight pacing, as unreformed cop Bruce Willis and snarling thief Alan Rickman square off in glittering office tower. Caustic humor spices breaks between bullets and explosions.

Die Hard With A Vengeance (1995) New York provides inventive playground for potent odd couple of maverick Bruce Willis and laconic Samuel L Jackson to race above and below city preventing Jeremy Irons' bombs from igniting. Kinetic style elevates well-choreographed action, though story twists falter last act momentum.

Birds Of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn) (2020) Bold design creates suitably anarchic world for broken, manic Margot Robbie, seeking violence and momentary respite with equally crazed gang. Vibrant style and humor keep pace fresh, even if excess finally feels tiring and anonymous.

Memoirs Of An Invisible Man (1992) Accidentally involved in lab accident, sardonic loner Chevy Chase wakes up invisible and chased by callous FBI agent Sam Neill. Smooth VFX and polished style, yet undone by slack pace and inability to balance thrills and laughs, Romantic interest with confused Daryl Hannah is strained.

Interlude (1957) Enjoyably ripe melodrama, rendered with expansive visuals and lush classical highlights, sees reticent June Allyson swept away by needy conductor Rossano Brazzi and struggle with his disturbed wife Marianne Koch. Gradual intensity infuses meandering narrative, before balance returns.
