Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes (2014) Invigorating continuation provides intelligent and emotional balance to conflict between Andy Serkis' colony of apes and remnants of desperate San Francisco humans. Assured, dynamic telling achieves thematic resonance and delivers powerful action.

War For The Planet Of The Apes (2017) Journey of revenge and redemption sees Andy Serkis' ape leader searching out sadistic Woody Harrelson and needing to breakout his captive tribe. Dark tone fits narrative intensity even if character sympathy is more basic. Sublime visual effects and poignant conclusion.

You're Cordially Invited (2025) Controlling Reese Witherspoon and needy Will Ferrell book same idyllic, remote island hotel for respective sister and daughter's weddings. Conflict, embarrassment and relationship lessons ensue. Abrasive and unfocused, lack of control and logic undermines appealing cast.

When Harry Met Sally (1989) Charting friendship and eventual romantic strain from decade of New York encounters between optimistically hurt Meg Ryan and caustically insecure Billy Crystal, bright comedy finds an astute balance with brittle emotions. Elevating cast enliven smart character observations.

Uiroein (The Client) (2011) Told with stylish, off-kilter visuals to propel twisting narrative revelations, confident lawyer Ha Jung-woo defends murder suspect Jang Hyuk against police coverup, until discovering his client was previously accused of being a serial killer. Solidly entertaining mystery thriller.

That's Amor (2022) Despite appealing central presence of flailing, undecided Riley Dandy, who is back with mom after losing job, leaving unfaithful boyfriend, and breaking foot in same afternoon, fluffy nonsense lacks any real drama. Romance with aspiring chef Isaac Gonzalez Rossi is left to fizzle.

Resort To Love (2021) Attractive cast and locations provide diversion from flimsy romantic confusions as Christina Milian's stalled music career makes her accept gig at luxury Mauritius beach hotel, not knowing it's also booked for her ex-fiancé's wedding. Punctuated by welcome songs, nonsensical title matches plot.

The Breakfast Club (1985) Smart script takes five teenage, high school types and fleshes out characters with compassion and humor, revealing their stories during all-day Saturday detention. Even when structure feels forced, sharp cast seize their roles with appealing, raw energy.

Canary Black (2024) Dry thriller features isolated action without establishing character tension as icy CIA agent and unrepentant assassin Kate Beckinsale goes rogue to save kidnapped husband and uncover twisting corruption. Polished technique attempts to gloss over lack of coherence.
