Black Bear (2020) A shifting take on artistic and personal control, as charged emotions follow edgy actress Audrey Plaza stirring marital conflict between Christopher Abbott and Sarah Gadon, until narrative switch takes characters behind camera on production of low budget film. Playfully unsettling.

Stöld (Stolen) (2024) Plain, uncompromising visual aesthetic establishes harsh conditions for indigenous Sámi people and traditions of reindeer herding under threat from hostile locals and industry. Unfortunately, drama of Elin Kristina Oskal's retaliation remains anemic and narrative development unconvincing.

Man On A Tightrope (1953) Harsh atmosphere of circus life, intensified by oppressive restrictions of Communist control, finally prompts designing Frederic March to implement troupe's escape to West Germany. Raw approach is sometimes stilted yet messy relationships resolve with tension and sacrifice.

Mica è colpa mia (The Love Scam) (2025) Appealing comic play between desperate brothers Antonio Folletto and Vincenzo Nemolato as they attempt to swindle irritable Laura Adriani is matched by pleasing romantic arc. Few surprises, yet fluid pace and attractive locations fulfill enjoyable package.

Lulli (2021) After self-centered medical student Larissa Manoela recovers from hospital accident, she discovers ability to hear people's thoughts and undergoes romantic and life reassessment. Despite engaging lead, busy staging strains for laughs and character, resulting in patchy involvement.

Sunshine Cleaning (2008) Insecure Amy Adams and wayward Emily Blunt are sisters who find financial hope in business of cleaning up violent crime scenes while also coping with family and relationship dysfunction. Thoughtful, captivating leads and wry, comic touch compensate for underwhelming drama.

Guilty Pleasure (2024) Accomplished defense lawyer Lovi Poe faces off against old firm and former lover JM De Guzman in high profile rape case, triggering revelations and retribution. Despite strong heroine, enticing mix of socio-sexual power struggles and genre courtroom thrills never coalesce dramatically.

Duplicity (2025) Tenacious lawyer Kat Graham takes on authorities when police kill desperate best friend Meagan Tandy’s husband, until twists reveal dark motives and sinister plot. Flat staging and bland visuals sap energy from narrative, tension jettisoned along with social resonance.

An Inspector Calls (1954) Solid adaptation benefits from clean focus and playfully unnerving presence of Alistair Sim, peeling back character layers of wealthy family to reveal complicity in poor Jane Wenham's suicide. Plain style emphasizes dialogue driven mystery and cold, societal critique.

An Inspector Calls (2015) Evocative visuals provide mysterious edge for cutting policeman David Thewlis to provoke wealthy family's association with death of impoverished Sophie Rundle. Blunt take on social inequality and care retains relevancy and surprise, even if extended final stretch softens impact.

Blood Red Sky (2021) Effectively pulpy setup sees violent plane hijackers discovering that sickly passenger Peri Baumeister is actually vampire ready to unleash fury in order to protect young son Carl Koch. Serious-minded approach sometimes limits energy and thrills, though character tension builds to suitably explosive finale.
