Karigurashi no Arietti (Arrietty) (2010) Delicately, dramatically rendered visuals support leisurely paced adventure that concentrates on simple narrative beats, while touching on themes of loneliness, loss, and wonders of outside world. Eponymous character is part of four inch high family discovered by sickly young boy. Emotionally enveloping conclusion.

The End We Start From (2023) Increasingly independent Jodie Comer gives birth just as apocalyptic floods consume London, forcing desperate survival journey amid society breakdown. Deliberate visuals and clouded characters reach beyond bold genre setting without thematic or emotional punch.

Stargate (1994) Nutty sci-fi action sees genially impulsive professor James Spader decipher secret of huge ancient ring as space portal through which stoic colonel Kurt Russell travels to desert planet. Generously expansive and enjoyably unsubtle, rebellion and romance with able support from David Arnold's sweeping score.

The Map That Leads To You (2025) Framed by lush European locations, practical Madelyn Cline's plans for improving holiday before New York job are derailed by free spirit traveler KJ Apa. Built on easy atmosphere and female protagonist's lively charm, relationship misses heady fire to propel encroaching heartfelt drama.

The Pickup (2025) Strained comedy strands near retirement Eddie Murphy and eager Pete Davidson as armored truck drivers who become part of revenge minded Keke Palmer's money heist. Though pace picks up, staging and unraveling plot remain perfunctory with action passing by and humor resting on cast's strained efforts.

The Devil Wears Prada (2006) Told with energetic snap and appealing wit, motivated Anne Hathaway takes assistant job to intimidating, calculating fashion editor Meryl Streep. Amid winningly broad characters, solid support from paranoid Emily Blunt and caustic Stanley Tucci in fluidly paced, hugely enjoyable package.

A Nice Girl Like You (2020) Reserved violinist Lucy Hale is criticized for inhibitions by ex and decides to check off list to embrace broader sexual knowledge. Despite game heroine, anonymous style and reticent approach wastes provoking social commentary for limp romantic contrivance with intermittent laughs.
