Victoria (In Bed With Victoria) (2016) Captivating Virginie Efira brings fresh contradictions to lawyer / single mother who's both confounding and endearing. Pacy balance of broad comedy, keen observation & poignant drama as court case and ex-husband's blog provoke self-destructive realization.

Keeping Up With The Joneses (2016) Dull suburban couple Isla Fisher and Zach Galifianakis soon suspect impossibly stylish neighbors Gal Gadot and Jon Hamm. Action spy confusion follows. Despite skilled cast and polished production, lack of laughs and narrative surprises  dampen involvement.

Sibyl (2019) Fragmented style plays on psychotherapist and hopeful novelist Virginie Efira's own damage and addictions with vivid sense of dark comedy. Once on Mediterranean film set of client and actress Adèle Exarchopoulos, more straightforward contortions falter, though conclusion proves resonant.

The Lifeguard (2013) Flailing Kristen Bell, disillusioned with New York journalism returns to small-town home and resets by taking up old teenage role at local swimming pool. Messy relationships with parents, friends and young lover never quite coalesce into persuasive character depth, despite intense central performance.

Ask Me Anything (2014) Messy life of young serial blogger Britt Robertson unravels through series of romantic encounters detailed in uncompromising detail. Smooth visuals and vital central performance maintain interest in observant drama until late, screeching narrative shift provides divisive, upending coda.

Police (Night Shift) (2020) Personal experiences for officers Virginie Efira, Omar Sy and Grégory Gadebois inform conflict over escorting asylum seeker Payman Maadi to deportation flight. Initial overlapping flashbacks, and intense mood intrigue without developing beyond emotional and political setup.

Official Secrets (2019) Low key detail and character definition aids edgy, slow-burn tension of spy agency translator Kiera Knightley's decision to reveal UK government deceit leading to 2003 Iraq War. Confluence of journalistic, political and personal concerns absorbingly held together by able cast and adept storytelling.
