Ticket To Paradise (2022) Relying almost solely on easy charm of star duo, bickering, divorced parents Julia Roberts and George Clooney fly to Bali to undermine daughter Kaitlyn Dever's impulsively announced wedding plans. Opulent locations for narrative beats whose contrivances are never in doubt.

Shotgun Wedding (2022) Comedy action confusion has enough energy to keep bubbling through Philippines wedding of Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel violently interrupted by ransom demanding pirates. Broad targets see concentration on visuals and physicality, darker character concerns left unexplored.

Qwik (Quick) (2011) Frantic pace features breathlessly excessive stunts and explosions as delivery biker Lee Min Ki and K-Pop star Kang Ye Won are forced to follow criminal's orders or bombs in helmet will blow. Despite convoluted plotting, strained romance and overripe comedy, action delivers kinetic thrills.

Personal Shopper (2016) Intimate, inquisitive drama explores grief, identity and spiritual belief bound within ghost and murder mystery. Alienated Kristen Stewart is fashion buyer and medium, waiting for a sign from twin brother in the afterlife. Serene, enveloping visuals create beguiling atmosphere.

Beast (2022) Fluid technical expertise and bold visuals impress rather than elevate suspense as Idris Elba attempts to reconcile with daughters on African trip and faces terror of revenge-minded lion. Briefly sketched characters and mounting implausibility relies on pulpy, violent scares.

Man Of The House (2005) Indulged cheerleaders witness murder, and gruff, traditional Texas Ranger Tommy Lee Jones moves into sorority house to protect. Clash of personalities results in lightly anonymous comic confusion and character growth, sapped of energy, and anything remotely original or believable.

Heartbreakers (2001) Pleasingly cynical and deeply unromantic mother and daughter con team Sigourney Weaver and Jennifer Love Hewitt successfully fleece frustrated Ray Liotta before taking aim at chain smoking Gene Hackman. Raucous energy and devilish performances deliver on laughs and twisting narrative.
