Bin-jip (3-Iron) (2004) Told with beguiling stillness, wordless relationship between abused wife Lee Seung-yeon and benign drifter Jae Hee touches on social and cinematic themes of status and visibility while rooted as tender love story. Deliberate pacing and mood can be both testing and arresting.

Little Joe (2019) Creating palpable sense of unease through carefully designed visuals and detailed sound, bioengineering tale sees committed Emily Beecham create plant strain to provide sensory comfort that might have a more sinister side effect. Absorbing and well played without quite reaching satisfactory thematic or dramatic resolve.

The Takeover (2022) Teenage hacker turned security guru Holly Mae Brood provides energetic presence, uncovering Chinese company plot to steal personal data and framed for murder by AI manipulation. Yet narrative thrills and character jeopardy aren't elevated beyond serviceable chase drama.

Horangiboda Museoun Gyeoulsonnim (A Tiger In Winter) (2017) Quietly effective reflection on the frustration of creativity and loneliness, as failed writer Lee Jin-wook reconnects with ex-girlfriend and successful novelist Go Hyun-jung. Open visuals aid poignant, rewarding character developments.

The Lady In Question (1940) Breezy comedy benefits from Brian Aherne's generously principled Parisienne shop owner, who takes in suspected murderer Rita Hayworth until besotted son Glenn Ford discovers true identity. Romantic confusion spurs likeable characters and comfortable resolve.

Love Hard (2021) In attempt to banish disastrous romantic history, frustrated Nina Dobrev impulsively travels across country to surprise perfect mate found online only to discover she's been catfished by insecure Jimmy O Yang. Appealing leads and comfortably inevitable, even if final spark is missing.

Puppy Love (2023) Opposites naturally attract as commitment averse Lucy Hale and acutely withdrawn Grant Gustin are forced together by their dogs own chemistry. Though unfolding story never persuades, leads invest enough romantic and comedic energy to ease away character life lessons.

The Storied Life Of A.J. Fikry (2022) Sincere intention for emotional, inspiring drama follows misanthropic Kunal Nayyar, rebooting his life when he adopts child left in his bookshop. Solid cast, yet attempt to cover so much character and thematic material ends up disjointed and lacking.
