My Future You (2024) Floundering Francine Diaz and dedicated Seth Fedelin meet on dating app and establish close friendship, until attempt at in person date reveals they live in different time periods, 2024 and 2009. Unpersuasively staged, leads intermittently spark emotion and humor without proving true romantic pull.
Geunyeoga Jookeodda (Following) (2024) Crafty visuals revel in dark humor of reprehensible characters caught in paranoid web as voyeuristic real estate agent Byun Yo-Han and manipulative influencer Shin Hae-Sun face murderous revelations. Enjoyable twists maintain momentum even if thrills are lessened.
B Cut (2022) Blandly conceived and realized thriller sees former actress Jeon Se-hyun seek out insular technician Kim Dong-wan to repair cellphone which he discovers contains photos of her powerful politician husband's controlling, violent abuse. Bouts of action and nudity never reach beyond genre conventions.
Always (2022) Moody, taciturn boxer Xian Lim finds surprising romance with chirpy, optimistic Kim Chiu, who is near blind after car accident. As he seeks redemption from swirling bonds of guilt, clumsy staging lacks defining style to elevate melodrama, though quiet moments between leads achieve affecting emotion.
Dangsinyi Jamdeun Sayi (While You Were Sleeping) (2024) Artfully designed visuals and narrative feints set up fractured mystery as Choo Ja-Hyun struggles to restore full memory after car accident and seeks to understand more in wake of writer husband Lee Mu-Saeng's death. Provokes tragic melodrama without lasting emotion.
Nonnas (2025) Good-natured comedy benefits from easy pace and generous cast, fulfilling expected story and character arcs, as drifting Vince Vaughn takes risk on opening traditional restaurant to honor mother's legacy with contrary seniors Lorraine Bracco, Talia Shire, Brenda Vaccaro and Susan Sarandon as chefs. Agreeably undemanding.
