We Live In Time (2024) Affectionately detailed love story leans on humour and vulnerability of its passionate leads, ambitious chef Florence Pugh and drifting marketing exec Andrew Garfield. Hope and tragedy of family life feeds robust melodrama, even if fractured narrative design undermines emotion.

Seven Cities Of Gold (1955) Sweeping production and spirited Hugo Friedhofer score see charismatic Anthony Quinn lead Mexican expedition in search of mythical Californian treasure, while devout priest Michael Rennie seeks to establish missions. Even as affair sours between conceited Richard Egan and innocent Rita Moreno, drama is undermined by labored pace and unconvincing characters.

The Talk Of The Town (1942) Polished cast balances comic absurdities and themes of practical justice when busy schoolteacher Jean Arthur rents out house to supreme court nominee Ronald Colman while also hiding suspected arsonist Cary Grant. Confidently staged without quite reaching screwball heights or delivering on defining resolution.

The Planter's Wife (1952) Blandly efficient family drama enlivened by threat of Malayan Emergency as gruff Jack Hawkins battles communist insurgents threatening farm while trying to persuade equally unflinching Claudette Colbert to leave for England with young son. Blurry politics and characters, though location visuals add texture.

Balls Up (2026) Straining for crude gags, only sparks of humor emerge as brash marketing exec Mark Wahlberg and unstable innovator Paul Walter Hauser sell new condom design before causing scandal during Brazilian World Cup final. On run from criminals and public, character and narrative jettisoned along with ongoing involvement.

Ricky Stanicky (2024) Since childhood, best friends Zac Efron, Jermaine Fowler and Andrew Santino have created fictional titular character as alibi for immature behavior, but are forced to hire desperate John Cena when people start to suspect. Barely expanding on initial setup for crudely drawn comedy, little enjoyment or involvement despite committed central performance.

Transformers (2007) Initially energizing, increasingly exhausting, pursuit of all-powerful cube on earth sees rival alien factions disguised as vehicles before converting into warrior robots to cause maximum destruction. Engaging Shia LaBeouf and human cast spend majority of time staring up in awe; glistening visuals made dizzy by whiplash rhythms.
